Last Sunday I got to photograph a proposal on the beach in Ponte Vedra for a sweet couple, AJ and Haley. AJ wanted to propose to Haley while celebrating their six-year anniversary together, so we plotted and planned to photograph his proposal for weeks to surprise Haley!

Haley and AJ both went to undergrad together. On the second full day on campus AJ saw Haley during a party so he walked ovr to her and he couldn’t remember her name he was so nervous so he had to ask her like three times (aww!). He had to have her put her name in his phone because he couldn’t remember anything anyone was saying. He knew right away if he didn’t talk to her at that party he was going to regret it the rest of his life. The perfect gentleman, AJ walked Haley back to her dorm that night to make sure she got home safely.

They’ve been together six years since then!

The way AJ talked about Haley, it’s clear he adores and appreciates her. One of AJ’s favorite things about Haley is that she’s so driven and determined and when she sets her mind to something, she will literally do anything to achieve it. A year ago, Haley hadn’t even run a half marathon and she ran her first half marathon ten months ago. Now she’s training to run a marathon. Haley inspires AJ to be more like that — she’s made him better and more driven. AJ’s training for a half marathon so they can run the same race together!

Haley and AJ, your smiles are beautiful and it’s clear you have a best friend kind of love. I’m excited to watch you two grow together! Congratulations on your engagement!
